So ages ago I fell into Superdrug and got a not so little Makeup Revolution haul and picked up the two items I will be reviewing in todays post. I have noticed that a lot of brands have now introduced lip kits after the Kyle Jenner lip kits hit off so well. The idea behind a lip kit is it has everything you need to create a perfect lip colour. A lip liner to define your lip shape and create depth to a lipstick and a liquid lipstick to add colour. I love this idea as things are handier when they come in sets.
First off I want to say that I do like the outer packaging that the two products comes in. Clear writing and shade names with the compete *cough* copy of the kylie lip kit style lip print.
The lip liner comes in a typical pencil with a lid and the same basic yet sleek writing printed on with a copper finish to it. I will be honest when I say that I’m not a huge fan of the feel of the packaging when it comes to the liquid lipstick, it feels quite light weight and cheap but you can see the exact shade and amount of product you have in the tube which is a winner, plus the copper lid is quite cute.
From what I can tell from the Superdrug website they have eight matte shades to choose from and also have a gloss range and a metallic range.
The first shade I picked up is the shade ‘Noble’, This is a nude with a warm hue to it, perfect for all skin types.
The second shade I decided to pick up is ‘Regal’, this is a smoky red shade with a orange tint to it making it the perfect shade for autumn, I also was on the hunt for a shade like this so gad I found it!.
Now on to the swatches, I had no issues with ‘noble’ the liquid lipstick applied easily with the long doe foot applicator that its provided with. There was no need for any layering or multiple applications and it dried very quickly, leaving smooth and pigmented lips. The liner was the same, a creamy texture that was easy to line the outer lip with and the shade matched perfectly. Which bring me onto my issues that I had with the shade ‘regal’. The liquid lipstick itself, although the same consistency as the other one, did need two coats to create a pigmented swatch and was the same on lips. The main problem I had with it was the shade of the lip liner, it didn’t match the liquid lipstick and was a completely different colour? Great if you like to create a ombre or faded style lip but not so great if you want a solid colour. That being said both were long lasting until I had eaten. But was easily re-applabel without going dry and flaky.
I would recommend trying these colours out, especially if you can swatch it in store, they are only £6 each and are often on 3 for 2. I will be collecting the rest of the shades to play around with. You can buy ‘Noble’ here and ‘Regal here.
Have you ever tried out any of the Makeup Revolution range? What are your favourites?. Let me know in the comments below.
