Hello beauties, I recently posted a 2018 Spring Picks post that featured the Too Faced Hangover primer, but felt it deserved its own review post!
When long days of work and late nights of play give you a beauty ‘Hangover’, this is your instant cure. ‘Hangover’ is a revolutionary make up primer infused with coconut water, probiotic based ingredients, and skin revivers that work together to boost skin’s radiance, promote elasticity and help hydrate while locking down make up for fresher, longer and more flawless wear. We harnessed the science of hydration to create a creamy, penetrating primer that acts like an energy drink for the skin by replenishing moisture levels. It can be worn alone for a dewy, healthy looking finish or under bronzers, foundations, and powders to create the perfect canvas. The unique combination of coconut water, probiotic based ingredient and skin reviver’s work together to hydrate and brighten skin, promote skin’s elasticity and tone, soothe and smooth the skin. Get all the priming benefits you love while looking like you received eight hours of sleep and drank your daily dose of H2O.
Too Faced have always impressed me with their packaging, very cute and girly. The packaging of this primer is no exception. It comes in a thick plastic tube with a pump and lid, I’m so pleased this has a pump because squeezy tubes can be a pain as you end up using way too much and it getting wasted. It definitely has that luxe look and feel to it.
Formula + Finish
As mentioned in the product description above, this contains coconut water, probiotic ingredients and skin revivers all meant to help aid your skin in looking and feeling fresh. One pump is enough to cover the whole face, it’s a thin cream consistency that soaks into your skin quickly, which is great because most primers just sit on your skin and not actually benefit your skin underneath. This has a light smell of mint sweets which I feel is fitting for the ‘fresh’ theme.
Once left to full sink in I noticed how hydrated my dry skin looked and felt, that my skin didn’t look so dull and it had smoothed out my skin at the same time. Although it gives that more awake and fresh looking appearance this doesn’t make the skin dewy at all, so is brilliant for those with both dry and oily skin as it gives a semi matte feel to the skin.
I found that my foundation (I tried both matte and dewy) adhered to my skin flawlessly and it did stay on longer without looking patchy or cakey or emphasising my pores or texture.
This costs £23 for 40ml of product, which is very pricey for a primer. That being said it’s the only primer I have come across so far that leaves my skin looking awake, fresh, not oily and keeps my makeup on all day without looks really dry. Plus it actually provides skincare benefits to the skin which most primers don’t! There’s also a travel 5ml size which is the best way to try a product before spending out for the full size. If you’re interested in buying the full size version you can find that here.
