Huda Beauty Amethyst Obsessions Palette. Swatches & Eye Looks

Makeup Looks, Product Reviews, Uncategorized

Hello beauties, as promised I’m back with another of the Gemstone Obsessions eyeshadow palettes from Huda Beauty. This time we will be taking a look at the Amethyst palette. Keep reading for a review, swatches and two eye looks.

A dream come true for those Huda-holics who can’t squeeze their palettes into overstretched make up bags (or those yet to sample her game-changing shadows) this Amethyst Obsessions Palette unites a spectrum of nine pigment-packed powders – six vibrant duo-chrome shimmers and three creamy mattes – in shades ranging from moody mauve and violet to barely there pink.

Packaging

Just like the previous obsessions palettes this has the same packaging and layout. The eyeshadows are housed in a sturdy thick card box with a magnetic lid to keep your eyeshadows safe. On the underside of the lid there’s a great quality mirror. This little palette is a handy size for travelling, I love the purple as it’s a perfect fit for the Amethyst theme.

Shades

This palette contains 9 shades, which consist of 3 mattes and 6 shimmers. This palette is perfect for those who love to play with pinks and purples and there’s enough shades to be able to create a handful of looks. The shimmers are duo chrome and look truly stunning.

Formula

I wanted to talk first about the shimmers, I can’t express just how rich they are in pigment, they have a creamy, soft formula and apply so beautifully. I like to use these by packing them on with a flat eyeshadow brush and spritzing a little fixing spray onto the brush/shadow. Moving onto the mattes, unfortunately these didn’t live up to the other two palettes I have reviewed. They’re very dry and almost chalky, as you will see in the swatches that they look a little patchy. I did manage to make them work though with a really fluffy brush and lots of blending.

Swatches

Eye Looks

Using shades ‘3’ to create the shape, shade ‘4’ to deepen the outer corner and lower lash. Shade ‘6’ in the centre of the lid and outer corner and shade ‘5’ in the inner corner.

Using shade ‘3’ to create the shape and shade ‘8’ in the centre of a halo effect and on the lower lash line.

Price

This palette will cost you £25 and you can find it on Cult Beauty here.

  1. I’m not surprised at the mattes being chalky. I played with Mauve Obsessions palette a while ago and although the colours are beautiful, the mattes were a lot of work. The problem I had with the mattes in the Mauve was that they took a looooot of building up to get any sort of payoff.
The metallics, on the other hand, were great.
The looks you did are stunning. I love that deep purple in the first picture.
I’m toying with the idea of buying the New Nude palette that’s coming out on Thursday.

    1. It’s such a shame that the Mauve obsessions didn’t work out for you! I personally loved mine. I’m so gutted that the mattes in this didn’t perform! Thank you beauty and thanks for reading ❤️

  2. Amazing post! I’ve been lusting after these Huda palettes, they’re so beautiful! Those swatches look incredible and I think this post is going to make me cave and either buy one for myself or ask for one for Christmas – just trying to work out which one I want the most.

I’ve also tagged you in my most recent post which is an Autumn Tag (I know Autumn is ending). I’d love to hear your answers! You can read the post here – https://multibendybeauty.com/2018/11/04/autumn-tag-2018/

  3. I love the eye looks that you created!! This pallete is gorgeous it’s just a shame that the mattes were chalky and hard to blend. I’ve just ordered the emerald obsessions pallete and I’m really excited for it to arrive this week xx

  4. I so wanted to get this palette!! Being extremely obsessed with anything purple, I was ready to buy it, I even swatched it in stores, but meh… the colours look way more pink than purple! 😦 I think I’m going to pass on this one, though it breaks my heart!
