Gift Guide Favourites For Her

Favourites, Hauls, Lifestyle, Product Reviews, Uncategorized

Hello beauties, it’s officially the start of the festive season, my decorations are up and I’ve already got started on the tin of chocolates. In today’s post I’m kick starting my Christmas posts with my gift picks for all you ladies out there. We have a mix of food, makeup, homeware, jewellery and so much more!

Disclaimer- This post contains affiliate links and some products featured have been sent to me for free for a review. As always opinions are honest and my own.

Huda Beauty Obsessions Eyeshadow palette

I did a fair few reviews on these Huda Beauty eyeshadow palettes when they first launched earlier this year. These gem stone themed palettes are the perfect gift to treat a makeup lover who loves to experiment. The pigmentation is incredible as is the colour story in each. They are £25 each but if you really want to spurge they now have the whole collection in a vault for £100.

Zoeva Spice Of Life Gift Set

Another gift for the makeup lover and this time it comes in the form of a set. The Spice Of Life kit contains a eyeshadow palette that has some gorgeous shades in and is a must for those who love warm shades. A highlighting palette that contains a champagne gold highlight and a rosy link highlight (I use this for a shimmer blush) A lip liner and matching liquid lipstick in a vampy dark red. This is perfect for Zoeva lovers (im yet to have a palette from them that I didn’t love) or for those new to the brand. This set costs £38. I will be doing a review of this set very soon.

Matalan Horoscope Mug

Anyone else love getting mugs for Christmas? Especially mugs with personalised detailing on such as these fun horoscope ones and the best part as they are only £3 so make the perfect secret Santa!

Buzz & Bear Druzy Moon pendant necklace

I was looking for quirky gifts on Etsy for a family member when I cane across the seller Buzz & Bear. How gorgeous is the druzy moon necklace? It’s so pretty and would look gorgeous layered with other jewellery. I definitely recommend having browse through Etsy to find some great hand made gifts that you won’t find on the high street.

The Kings Ginger Liqueur

I was gifted this a few weeks ago for a review but have since bought a back up bottle of this Ginger Liqueur from The Kings Ginger. It’s the perfect gift for booze lovers as so many drinks can be made with it, such as the the Kings and tonic (replace gin with the Kings Ginger) and my personal favourite, added to hot chocolate! This costs £23 and can be found at Waitrose in the UK.

Homesense candles

When it comes to candles home sense is my go to all year round, but especially in the autumn/winter months as all their spiced, berry and pumpkin scents hit the shelves. They always have the perfect containers and make such attractive looking gifts!

Monty Bonjangles Chocolates

A sweet gift, especially a chocolate one is always something I like to gift my loved ones, who doesn’t love chocolate! At the start of the year I found about the brand Monty Bojangles and have been obsessed ever since. Their chocolates are so rich in taste, are so luxurious and they have loads of flavours available! My personal favourite is the Pistachio Marooned.

Lime Crime Lip Spinner Gift set

My favourite item from this post has to be this new Lip Spinner set from Lime Crime. This is part of their new Christmas launch and is the perfect gift for lovers of the brand or for newbies to try some of their products. It contains three mini sized Velvetines and three mini sized Wet Cherry glosses. I love the formulas of both ranges so had to pick this up for myself. I managed to snag this in the Black Friday deals but full price this is £41 on Cult Beauty. I will be doing a separate blog post reviewing this on Friday!

The English Tea Shop Herbal Tea

When it comes to hot drinks not everyone likes a tea or coffee or hot chocolate and instead opts for a herbal brew. I recently picked up these two festive themed teas from The English Tea Shop and have been loving them so far. My favourite is this Rooiboos Candy Cane tea which has the classic taste of peppermint but with a gorgeous vanilla twist. A tub of this with a mug will make a cute little secret Santa gift!

Lush Cinders Shower gel

It isn’t a gift guide without a product from Lush, their Christmas range is always amazing and this year I wanted to include this new shower gel that launched a few months ago. It smells like Marzipan and is so different to any shower gels from lush I’ve owned before.

I’ve also added another new launch that has become a new favourite of mine the Candy Cane bubble bar which is so cute and festive, it would make the perfect stocking filler. I wanted to add in the new Cranberry Fizz lip scrub Lip scrub too, this smells bloody amazing and is also perfect to slip into a stocking or to add in a bath hamper!

Personalised Phone Case with CaseApp

I was lucky enough to collaborate with this brand recently to make these gorgeous phone cases. Case App are a design your own case company that allows you to personalise them with any image and text. They also have lots of pre made designs to choose from and make laptop skins. Decorate your loved ones phone with a collage of photos or a pet or just a funky design.

Spectrum Mean Girls Makeup Brush Set

Another gift for the Makeup lover, you always need the right tools to create a great makeup look and these makeup brushes from Spectrums Mean Girl collection are ‘so fetch’. This set contains ten brushes A01, A05, A07, A10, A16, A17, A21, B01, B06, C01 and come in this fun mesh makeup bag. Each brush has a quote printed on the side from the film and are amazing quality. This set costs £49

Benefit Magical Brow Stars Gift set

I reviewed this set recently and think this set is the ultimate gift for a brow lover. It contains five full sized Benefit brow products and a double ended brush. It costs £49.50 with a contents value of £118 which is incredible!

The Body Shop Peppermint Candy Cane Review

Lifestyle, Product Reviews, Uncategorized

Hello beauties, we all know that Christmas is the best time for new launches when it comes to bath and body brands and one of my favours brands to shop during the festive period is The Body Shop. In today’s post I’m going to be talking about two of the new peppermint range that I picked up last weekend.

Disclaimer- This post contains affiliate links. As always opinions are honest and my own.

The whole collection in this scent consists of a shower gel, bath foam, soap, body lotion, body butter, body scrub, hand cream and shimmer mist. It also comes in some really fab gift sets that are great value for money if you’re looking for something for a loved one.

Packaging

How cute is the design of this years lid packaging, it literally screams Christmas and fits the scent of the product so well. It definitely makes me hungry!

Peppermint Candy Cane Body Scrub

The first item I picked up was this body scrub, I was in need of one after running out of my usual and fell in love with the scent of this one. It has the obvious smell of peppermint but mixed with a delicious hit of vanilla and it smells so sweet and food like. This has small bits in that are sizeable enough to buff away dry/dead skin without being too rough and leaves the skin feeling wonderfully smooth and like new. This costs £15 for 250ml but there is always offers on to save you some money!

Peppermint Candy Cane Body Butter

I always buy the matching body lotion if it’s available in the same scent as I feel it makes the smell linger longer. This has exactly the same formula as any other of the body butters from The Body Shop and I find them one of the best. They are fairly thick and make short work of any dry areas you may have. It does take awhile for this cream to set in and has a tingly effect to the skin thanks to the peppermint. The scent is exactly the same as the scrub. This costs £6 for 50ml or £15 for 200ml

Also don’t forget to check out the other Christmas scents that are also available, the Berry Bon Bon and the Vanilla Marshmallow and I’ll leave a link here if you want to shop the Peppermint Candy Cane collection.

Have you tried any of the other products from this years Christmas range? What’s your favourite body shop scent? Let me know in the comments below!

Luxury Orange & Ginger Hot Chocolate Recipe Ft The Kings Ginger

Collaborations, DIY'S, Lifestyle, Product Reviews, Uncategorized

Hello beauties, I was recently contacted but the lovely team at The Kings Ginger to try one of their bottles of Ginger liqueur as a gift. I am already a huge fan of liquors so had to snap up a bottle. I knew exactly what I wanted to make as soon as I received the bottle and smelled it, a tasty luxury hot chocolate that is the perfect winter warmer and oh so festive.

A quirky and high-strength liqueur carefully crafted from the maceration of ginger root and lemon oils, The King’s Ginger is rich in colour and deliciously crisp to taste. Be it in a flask on one’s hip at the races or in a Collins glass over ice in one’s chair, it is indeed a splendid tonic to be appreciated all year round.

Disclaimer- this product was gifted to me for review, as always opinions are honest and my own.

What you will need:

Ingredients

  • Orange flavoured chocolate
  • Milk or Soya (for lactose intolerance)
  • Cocoa powder
  • Cream (optional)
  • The Kings Ginger Liqueur

Utensils

  • Access to a stove/oven top
  • Saucepan
  • Spoon
  • Hot chocolate glass or your favourite mug
  • Grater
  • Shot glass

How to make:

  1. Fill up your glass/mug of choice with milk/soya up to just over half way
  2. Add the measured milk to a pan and set the oven top to a medium heat. Wait until milk is steaming
  3. Add the orange chocolate in squares (leaving some spare for grating)and stir until melted
  4. Add a teaspoon of cocoa powder
  1. Add one shot glass measure of The Kings Ginger to the mixture
  2. Pour into glass/mug
  3. (Optional) Add cream to the top of the hot chocolate
  4. Grate a small amount of the chocolate to create shavings and sprinkle on top of the cream

This makes such a rich and luxurious treat and you bet I’ll be drinking it throughout the winter months. If you are interested in trying a bottle (it can even be used in place of gin with a tonic) then you can find it in Waitrose if you live in the UK.

A huge thanks to the team at The Kings Ginger for sending this my way. Go check out their website (linked above) as they have many other drink and food recipes.

Buxom Cosmetics Beauty Event

Collaborations, Lifestyle, Product Reviews, Uncategorized

Hello beauties. The lovely Lauren who manages the Buxom beauty counter in Debenhams invited me along to a beauty event to talk about all the products that Buxom offer as well as their newest launches. There was cute little sweets and cakes on offer as we got to swatch, test out and hear about the ingredients, finishes and more about the brand.

Buxom originally started in America but has recently became avaible in the UK. Known promdomintly for their best selling lip and eye products. In today’s post I’m going to be talking you through the products I got to test, swatch and the information I learned.

They have several counters at the Buxom area in Debenhams in Bristol. These were filled with all different different kind of lip products from lip creams, matte lipsticks, balms, liners and even glosses. The great thing about all their lip products is they all have a plumping effect, they achieve this by using peptides and peppermint in their formula which is gentler on the lip than using venoms or chilli like some brands do.

The first newly launched product I want to mention is the Power Plump Lip Balm. There’s four universal shades that will suit every skin tone. Working to hydrate the lips whilst plumping them for a fuller looking pout. These leave the most gorgeous sheer colour and smell like peppermint. These cost £15 for 4.3g.

The next new release from buxom is the limited edition Holographic Top Coat Lip Polish which are prismatic lip plumping top coats that you can wear alone or on top of any lip colour. These come in four stunning shades and have a smooth formula instead of that gritty glitter feeling that I hate in glosses. I’ve swatched the shades ‘Crystal’ and ‘Ariana’ below and you can see how much they shine! These cost £15 for 4ml.

Next we have the Full On Lip Polish which is a U.S best seller and is a sheer shimmering lip gloss with a glittery finish . It contains Vitamin A and E which helps keep lips soft, smooth and protected and leaves a tingling sensation, you can literally feel it plumping your lips! There’s 32 shades to choose from and each one costs £15 for 4.44ml.

My personal favourite products and swatched below is the Full on Lip Cream which are no glitter, lip glasses which are smooth colourful glosses with a high shine finish. Costing £15 for 4.4ml

Shades ‘Rose Julep’, ‘Kir Royale’, ‘Dolly’ and ‘Mai Tai’.

If Gloss isn’t your thing they also offer matte formulas in their Big And Sexy Bold Lipstick which is a gel lipstick with a ultralight formula and comes in 14 shades. To match these lipsticks are the Plumpline Lip Liners that can be used all over the lip or just as a liner. These have a creamy formula and apply easily with the brush at opposite end that helps diffuse the colour.

Buxom don’t just offer lip products they are also well known for their eyeshadows.

There’s two options to choose from, the ‘Build your own’ palette where you can choose from any of the above 40 shades and customise your own palette. Or you can buy one of their pre made palettes.

The formula of these eyeshadows are super smooth and packed full of pigment, especially the shimmers that are on offer. They were insane! There’s definitely colours to suit everyone and I love the cute packaging of the empty palettes. The empty Customisable Palette costs £8 and can fit six single eyeshadow in. Each Single Eyeshadow Refill costs £8 for 1.4g of product. These are my favourite shades.

Shades ‘Big Spender’, ‘No Faux’, ‘It Crowd’, ‘Patent Leather’ and ‘Wild Nights’

To finish off Buxom also offer two mascaras. The Volumising Lash Mascara which has a vitamin enriched clump resistant formula that thickens the lashes. It has a hourglass shaped brush which coats the lashes evenly from root to tip. This costs £16 for 11ml.

Their second mascara is the Big Tease Plumping Mascara which has calibrated wax in the formula to deliver a smooth application as well as maximum volume. With its conical brush that releases just the right amount of product to allow you to cover from root to top. I received a deluxe sample of this in my goody bag and love it so much I’ll be purchasing the full sized version. This costs £18 for 13ml.

I couldn’t resist testing out some of their lip products and I came up with this gorgeous colour combination by using their Plumpline Lip Liner in the shade ‘Anonymous Allure’ and the Holographic Top Coat in shade ‘Crystal’.

I will be doing a separate blog post reviewing the goodies I received from this event so keep an out for that.

I had so much fun at this event and meeting other beauty influencers. Thank you so much to Lauren and Buxom for inviting me.

My Current Skincare Routine

Lifestyle, Product Reviews, Uncategorized

Hello beauties, if you suffer with acne or bad skin currently or in the past then you will know that when you have a ‘good skin period’ (whatever that may mean to you) that it’s a monumental moment. I’ve been having said moment for the last month thanks to my current skincare routine that seems to be working really well at keeping my skin and under eyes bright, hydrated and blemish free. I thought I would share what I’m currently using in the hopes it may help someone else and the best part is, all of what I’m using is budget friendly!

Disclaimer- This post contains affiliate links. As always all opinions and reviews are honest and my own. I’m also not a dermatologist or a expert, everyone’s skin is different. I’m just sharing my personal experience and what works for me.

Skin Background

From the age of roughly twelve I suffered from acne, I had it on my face and chest and I tried everything from antibiotics to medicated soaps and nothing seemed to help. It was only when I became pregnant with my son that something changed and my skin started to react better to the things I put on it. Now my skin is prone to breakouts if I don’t keep up with a routine and I get very dry skin.

Step 1– Makeup Removal

The most important step in my skincare routine is removing every single trace of makeup from the day, no matter where I am or what I’ve been up too I will always make sure I have done this step before I head to bed. If you don’t you will clog your pores which leads to break out city. I like to remove any eye makeup with the Revuele Micellar Water (1.49) by soaking a cotton pad and pressing it on my eye for a few seconds before sweeping away. This is perfect for removing any mascara and eyeshadow and brow product without the need for rubbing the delicate skin of the eye too much.

Next I remove the rest of my makeup using the Wilko Tea Tree Face Wipes (50p). My skin always reacts well to tea tree and these wipes are great quality and leave my skin feeling so clean.

Lastly I will go in with the Pixi Glow Tonic and soak a cotton pad and pat gently into my skin. This works as a liquid exfoliant and breaks up any dry skin or dead skin cells leaving you with smooth fresh looking skin, I have been using this just over a month now and I’m loving how much more brighter my skin is, it’s not harsh on the skin and I’ve been noticing that my scars aren’t as visible anymore. I also use a small amount of this is the morning to make sure my skin is clean before my makeup application.

Step 2- Face Masks

Three times a week I will use a face mask in the evening. I use the Lush Mask Of Magnaminty (£12.50) which has been a staple in my skincare for over three years now as it has such great healing power, dries up any spots and even shrinks my large pores. I use this twice a week.

Once a week, normally on a Sunday evening as a little treat, I’ve been trying out the Oilatum Cream (£6.29). I first read about this when I came across a article about how Jessie J used to use it and I’ve always been soenvious of her baby like skin from day one so I figured if it works for her right? It’s a eczema cream with a small amount of paraffin. I apply enough to spread a thick layer on my face and leave overnight. It is very thick when you first apply but it does sink into the skin nicely. It doesn’t smell too pleasant but my god do I wake up with plump, fresh and hydrated skin the next morning. I was very worried about my skin breaking out at first as my skin does look very oily the next day (I remove the excess with the Glow tonic before makeup application) but I’ve been trying it a month now and not only does my skin look better but it hasn’t broke out and my skin looks and feels so hydrated. So I really recommend this to anyone out there who has dry skin but it’s a miss for those with oily skin!

Step 3– Extras

I like to moisturise in the morning before my makeup application and in the evening after removing my makeup. I don’t like anything too heavy unless it’s a mask and I’ve been really enjoying the Revuele Bio Active Collagen And Elastin Cream, it’s £2.49 and is the best I’ve used as it’s super light feeling on the skin but sinks in to leave your face smooth for a flawless skin look under makeup. It hasn’t changed anything about my foundation or concealer application either which is amazing!

New to my skincare routine is two amazing products from The Ordinary. First up is the The Ordinary 100% L-Absorbic Acid Powder which is a brightening vitamin C powder that I used once a week by mixing it into the Oilatum mentioned above. It costs £4.90 and has a slight stinging sensation but that doesn’t last long. I’m a huge fan of anything that brightens up my dull looking skin and I’m loving this so far.

I recently posted about my tips and tricks for dark circles and wish at the time of writing it that I had come across The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5%. I had read a while back that eye products with caffeine in are great for making eyes looking more awake so to find this product for £5.80, I was excited to see if it made a difference to my dark under eyes. I’m so pleased that they are starting to look brighter and not so dull, it has the most amazing tightening effect that makes you look and feel more awake. I use it Day and night and it doesn’t effect your makeup application. If you suffer from bad under eyes I really recommend this, a bargain and works like a dream.

(No makeup, my current skin situation ft my hereditary eye bags)

Lastly I use a Derma Roller once a month. A derma roller is lots of tiny needles on a roller that you use by rolling gently over clean skin. This removes any old dead skin cells and replaces them with fresh new ones as your skin heals. Essentially it renews the surface of the skin making it look younger. It does hurt a little when rolling it on your skin but the results are definitely worth it! It will leave your skin a little red after using so I use it just before bed. Just make sure you clean it after each use!

I hope you liked this post and can get some use out of it! Let me know in the comments below!

Dealing With Dark Under Eye/Bags Tips And Tricks

Lifestyle, Product Reviews, Uncategorized

Hello beauties, when it comes to things I’m insecure about, dark circles are high on my list. I have hereditary dark circles and deep set eye bags which means I can never really get rid of them for good. So being a makeup lover I learnt how to cover them well. Today I will be sharing my tips and tricks as well as some products I love and personally use to keep my under eye area bright and in tip top condition.

Get enough sleep

I know I said above that my problem is hereditary but they’re times when I don’t follow these tips that my undereyes look ten times worse. The first and most important step when it comes to your dark eyes and even the rest of your health is to get a decent amount of shut eye. Loss of sleep results in lack lustre skin and makes your eyes look puffy and sallow. Treat yourself to a early night and get at least eight hours!.

Drink plenty of water

Another thing you should be doing anyway for your overall health but especially for the under eyes. Drinking plenty of water flushes toxins from your body and will keep your skin hydrated from the inside. It also clears up your skin and helps give you a natural glow so there’s no better reason to drink your eight glasses a day! Just have a bathroom ready as you will be peeing constantly.

Limit your salt intake

I stopped adding salt to my food as I started to notice that my eyes were looking so dark and my skin was looking extremely dull. This is because sodium, which salt contains, causes water retention in the body, including the area around your eyes.

Eye gel is your best friend

A eye cream will go a long way when it comes to the undereye, you want to keep that area hydrated. This will not only benefit your skin but will help when you apply your concealers and foundation with any dryness or creasing. My favourite eye cream is the Clinique All About Eyes which I haven’t pictured as I’ve just ran out but it’s amazing as it is super moisturising and has a tightening effect that makes my eyes look and feel more awake. A cheaper alternative I’ve been trying out is the Nutrient Wise Soothing Eye Gel that Nutrient Wise kindly sent me to test and the Revuele Hydralift Hyaluron Eye Contour Gel Filler (I will be doing a separate post on this) which are super thick and work well for hydration and have a lovely cooling effect on the eyes.

Cold compress in the morning

This is more of a puffy eye step then for dark circles but it will still help improve the overall look of the eye area. I like to use Eye pads that I put in the fridge to press against my eyes once I’ve woken up. The cold reduces blood vessel expansion and puffiness. Position a cold compress over your eyes to reduce the inflammation of the blood vessels and to give you a overall awake feeling.

Colour correcting concealer

Now onto ways you can cover already existing dark circles up. I’ve only recently started colour correcting properly in the last few months. The idea behind it is to counteract the blue, purple or red pigment from the blood vessels as the skin is thinnest under your eyes so makes them more visible. A peach concealer will combat blue or purple for light to medium skin tones, a orange concealer will help those with tan to dark skin tones and a red concealer is best for those with deep skin tones. If you have some red in the area then a green concealer will help cancel any redness. As I am light skinned and only have blue to contend with I only have to use a peach concealer, I’ve been loving the Pixi Correction Concentrate as it covers everything I need ready for my normal concealer, has such a brightening effect and has a moisturising formula. For darker skin tones I recommend the L.A Girl Pro Conceal in the shade ‘peach corrector’ as this has amazing coverage, is a darker orange shade and is super easy to blend out .

Choose the right concealer

Obviously you will have to cover up the colour correction process and I think it goes without saying that a high coverage concealer is the way to go. It is also very important to choose the right shade of concealer as shades that are too light will actually make the eyes appear grey and ashy and make the under eyes look worse. When choosing a concealer shade the rule of thumb is to go one or two shades lighter than your skin tone. I also find a pink toned concealer makes my under eyes look a lot brighter then a yellow toned one due to the colour counteraction mentioned above. My current favourite to use is the Too Faced Born This Way concealer as it has great coverage, a dewy formula and gives a very fresh looking under eye.

Set with a brightening powder

The majority of people set their undereye makeup with a powder and I’m one of those people. Why not swap your usual powder to one that has brightening effects? I’m loving the Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder as it’s finely milled, isn’t drying and most importantly brightens!.

I hope these tips were helpful to you or someone you know. If you have any other tips that weren’t mentioned here then please put them in the comments for others to see!
