Huda Beauty Topaz Obsessions Palette, Swatches & Eye Look

Makeup Looks, Product Reviews, Uncategorized

Hello beauties, hope you’re having a good Monday, I’m back today with the second of the new Huda Beauty Obsession palettes. The Topaz obsessions is perfect for those who like warm shades and it just screams autumn/fall. Keep reading for review, swatches and two eye looks.

A dream come true for those Huda-holics who can’t squeeze their palettes into overstretched make up bags (or those yet to sample her game-changing shadows) this Topaz Obsessions Palette unites nine pigment-packed powders – four vibrant duo-chrome shimmers and five creamy mattes –  in rich rose gold, amber, burnished bronzes and tangerine orange for the ultimate sophisticated polish.

This palette has the same packaging as the rest of the obsessions palettes but with the exception of it being a gorgeous burnt orange colour to match the topaz theme. The shadows are nicely spaced out, this makes it easy to dip your eyeshadow brushes into the pan without picking up another colour. On the underside of the lid you will find a great quality mirror. Its compact size makes this palette perfect for travelling, this is the pocket rocket of palettes.

This palette has 9 shades, which consists of 5 mattes and 4 shimmers. There is enough shades in this palette to create a handful of warm looks.

Starting with the matte shades, they have the same formula as the emerald obsessions, very smooth with little fallout. Unfortunately I didn’t find the mattes as pigmented as other obsessions palettes. They needed building up for a great colour payoff and the dark brown shade on the last row was very patchy. The shimmers however are amazing, they have a super creamy formula that are packed with pigment and blend out easily. There is a small amount of fallout with the shimmers so go careful not to push too hard in the pan.

  • Yellow toned orange matte
  • Rich copper shimmer
  • Burnt orange matte
  • Warm gold shimmer
  • Salmon pink matte

  • Dark bronze shimmer
  • Chocolate brown matte
  • Terracota Orange
  • Light bronze shimmer

Using shades ‘5’ for the transition. Shade ‘3’ to create the shape, shade ‘7’ to deepen the outer corner and bottom lash line and ‘4’ in the centre of the lid.

Using shade ‘8’ on the outer corner to create the shape. Shade ‘5’ in the inner corner and shade ‘7’ on the bottom lash line. Winged liner using Kat Von D Tattoo Liner.

This palette cost £25 and you can find it here

DIY Project: Festive Cranberry Face Mask.

DIY'S, Uncategorized

It has been ages since I featured a DIY on my blog. I love creating beauty products from home and hope to do a lot more in the new year. Today’s post is a fab ‘do it yourself’ holiday face mask, with festive ingredients and properties that will leave your skin glowing and heal up blemishes with just four ingredients!.

Not just a tasty fruit but fab for your skin, Cranberries are the holiday fruit of choice and thanks to the high percentage of vitamin B3 and B5 that sheilds skin against the harsh cold weather. Cranberries are also packed with antioxidants which fight against premature aging, making the skin look more youthful. They’re also high vitamin C that provides radiance to the skin.

If you have oily or blemish prone skin don’t worry! Cranberry is acidic in nature so helps reduce production of oils. Resveratrol found in the juice of the cranberries works effectively in eliminating spots and acne.

Not to mention the other ingredients such as the skin calming with hazel, brightening lemon juice and Egyptian red clay which is amazing at shrinking pores and healing current blemishes.

What you will need

2 tbsp of cranberries

1 tbspEgyptian red clay

3 tbsp witch hazel

1 tsp juice of a lemon

Mixing bowl

Container with a lid

Mixing spoon

Blender or electric chopping device

How to make

1. Firstly take the cranberries and gently wash under cool water to clean any nasties off the fresh fruit

2. Place in a blender or electric chopping device to create a smooth fruity paste

3. In a mixing bowl combine the lemon juice and the witch hazel

4. Slowly add the red clay, mixing gentle as it can get quite messy. This will turn into a red paste

5. Combine the cranberries with the clay mixture and mix well.

6. If the mixture is too thick then add another tsp of witch hazel

7. Transfer into a container with a lid and put in the fridge for freshness.

This is enough to last for two weeks as these ingredients are best used fresh. Keep in the fridge until ready to use.

Lush Sleepy Body Lotion

Product Reviews, Uncategorized

Does anyone else have trouble sleeping? I know I do, I have always been a problem sleeper, either not being able to drift off or stay in the land of nod. I was in Lush the other day and was offered a sample of the product I will be reviewing today. Since then I came across a article about it curing peoples insomnia and sleep problems, this intrigued me and it reminded me of the little sample in my bag so I dug it out. I fell in love with the scent so went back into store to buy the full sized pot. I had to tell you my thoughts on it in hope it might help others with the same issue. The product I will be talking about today is the Sleepy Body Lotion. 215g for £13.95.

You’ll sleep well after dipping into this dreamy lotion, made with a gentle oatmeal infusion, calming lavender flower and comfortingly sweet tonka absolute. A rich, malty and floral perfume conjures up visions of sugar plums and hot drinks topped with whipped cream while the heavenly ministrations of creamy Fair Trade organic cocoa butter and delicate lavender water cool and enrich the skin. Blanket your body in this lovely lotion before stepping into soft pyjamas for snuggly nights beside the fire.’

Ingredients – Oatmeal Infusion Almond Oil Lavender Water Lavender Flower Infusion Organic Jojoba Oil Glycerine Fair Trade Organic Cocoa Butter Stearic Acid Illipe butter Triethanolamine Lavender Oil Benzoin Resinoid Tonka Absolute Ylang Ylang Oil Cetearyl Alcohol *Benzyl Benzoate *Benzyl Cinnamate *Coumarin *Geraniol *Limonene *Linalool Perfume Snowflake Lustre Colour 45410 Colour 42090

It contains Lavender water and flower which is meant to help you relax and in turn help you sleep along with sweet Tonka. It has a number of oils including Jojoba, Almond and lavender oil, these will make your skin super smooth along with the organic cocoa butter.

The reviews on their website are all five stars stating that people cant sleep without it  and how well it made them sleep. I was a bit sceptical that if sleeping tablets don’t help me then why would a body cream?.

First off I want to say how delicious this smells, it has a typical lavender smell but with hints of sweet and spice. I think the smell would be too much if you wanted to use this in the day as well as it does linger on the skin. Did it help me sleep though?. Yes and no, it did help relax me when I applied it 20 minutes before bed time. I wouldn’t say it helped me fall asleep as such but it did help me stay asleep. I do find that I am not getting up three or four times in the night when using this, plus it has made my skin super smooth.

I’d say give it a go, I would recommend it purely for the smell and soft skin benefit and hell it might even help you go sleepy byes. Let me know in the comments below if you have this and if it works for you?.

New In: Soap & Glory Makeup

Hauls, Product Reviews, Uncategorized

So I may have stumbled into my local boots store yesterday and I may have picked up some new (well, new to me) products from Soap & Glory. I own a few makeup items from this brand and LOVE their bath and skincare products. Plus they had a free gift offer if you spent £14 on makeup. No regrets from me!.

Hocus Focus flaw softening illuminator

If you have read my previous makeup looks you will know I am a massive fan of using Mac’s strobe cream as a base. Having ran out on Monday and my order being cancelled on the website I needed a quick replacement. Enter this amazing product. I love the dewy finish this gives and it smoothes out the skin ready for the rest of your makeup, it also has the gorgeous signature sent from their bath products.

Sexy Mother Pucker lipstick

This came free in a gift bundle, with the eyeliner and highlighter. Its a glossy nude lipstick in the shade ‘love & o-beige’. It has a creamy formula and is very pigmented. Expect high shine and popping lips with this product.

Glow All Out luminizing face powder

This is my least favourite product of the four. I love a powdered highlight to be really bright and glowy and this wasn’t very pigmented, I really had to press hard with my brush to get anything and even then the colour payoff wasn’t great!. Luckily I got this free, and I wont be repurchasing!.

Supercat liquid eyeliner pen

You can never have too many eyeliner products, my favourite type being pens. I find them so easy to draw a wing with than using a slanted brush. This pen has a fine tip that makes it easier to get a clean line with a heavy black pigment.

Bargain makeup buys from

Product Reviews, Uncategorized

Who doesn’t love a beauty bargain?. I’m obsessed with finding new products or even dupe products with cheap price tags that don’t skimp on quality. I recently bought a little selection from two sellers on Aliexspress which is a Korean selling site similar to ebay.

Disclosure- All products mentioned in todays post were not gifted to me or are press samples.

Before I show you the goods I want to just explain that there has been a lot of bad stigma around Aliexpress as it is known for selling fake versions of high end products such as Limecrime, Kat Von D  beauty, Urban Decay ect. Please stay clear of these as although the packaging most of the time looks dead on, the ingrediants haven’t been safely tested and could cause allergic reactions or skin irritation!. The products I have bought are not fakes or dupes of anything and all ingrediants are printed on the labels.

Attractive Scenery Cosmetics Eyeshadow palette

This little beauty contains twelve eyeshadows, seven mattes and five shimmers. Look at that gorgeous colour pay off!. Even the mattes are highly pigmented and at £3.72 its such a steal. I cant wait to get creative with the darker shades.

Six soft eyeshadow brush set

These brushes are very similar to the Real Techniques eyeshadow tools. They are so soft and fluffy feeling on the eye lid, easy to blend and bristles didn’t fall out when I washed them. Priced  at £2.76 for a set of six, giving you everything you need to create a stunning eye look.

Qibest waterproof matte lip creams

Shades ‘616, 610, 607, 633, 611’.

Shades ‘602, 619, 622, 603, 621, 623’

These are my favourite out of the haul, I bought eleven out of twenty three shades to try out before I buy more. Application is a doddle, they glide on easy, aren’t sticky feeling and they dry down to a matte finish. As you can see from the swatches this product doesn’t lack in pigmentation. They are very hard wearing and didn’t fade or rub off, only when eating did it start to break up on the inner side of my mouth but was no issue as its easy to reapply. These cost a amazing 95p each and had a bulk price offer for every 10 you buy you get a further 5% off!.

Have you ever bought anything off Aliexpress? If so what was your experience?. Let me know in the comments below!

The Ordinary High-Adherence Silicone Primer and Coverage Foundation review.

Product Reviews, Uncategorized

If you’re a keen lover of watching makeup/ beauty videos on Youtube like me then you would of come across the video of Wayne Goss raving about one of his new favourite products. Since then it has blown up all over the web. I had to jump on the bandwagon!. I am going to be reviewing two products from The Ordinary. Their High Adherence Silicon primer and their Coverage Foundation.

High Adherence Primer

This primer is the recommended product to use with their foundation, it is alcohol, oil and nut free and also vegan and cruelty free!. You get the standard 30ml of product for a crazy price of £3.90!. Im not overly eager on the packaging as it looks like something that a medical ointment would come in but The Ordinary are well known for their skincare range for different skin problems so this makes sense. It comes in a sqeezy tube which makes it easy to get the right amount out.

Once on your hand you will notice it has a medium cream consistency and a little goes a long way. If you’re not keen on makeup having a fragrance then this is not for you as it has a very strong, almost sun cream smell to it, however it did go away after application.

A little goes a long way with this and leaves a hydrating matte finish which blurred most of my fine lines, leaving a flawless base for my foundation application.

Coverage Foundation

Spoiler Alert! I love this foundation!. It comes in a small plastic  clear bottle, which is great because you can see the exact shade and how much product you have left as you use it!. It comes with a sturdy matte pump with a lockable lid.

The range boasts 21 high pigmented shades and is alcohol, oil, soy, nut and gluten free!. As well as being vegan and cruelty free!. You get 30ml of product for another bargain price of £5.90!.

I chose the shade 1.1 N which is the best shade match for my favourite Mac foundation NC15. The texture of this foundation is a light cream (not runny though). Like the primer it has the same ‘sun cream’ scent to it.

The back of the box recommends using your fingers to apply but I prefer to use a beauty blender, I did try to use a buffing brush but unfortunately it left it looking streaky. I found two pumps were enough to cover my blemishes and acne scars as well as some of my dark pigmentation under my eyes without looking cakey. It has a high coverage matte finish that looks and feels natural.

I have been testing out the wear of this foundation for a whole week now and although I have combination skin, the heat this week was crazy so it was a great time to test. The foundation didn’t come off or even transfer at all and didn’t need much of a touch up (only on my chin where I usually get oily after a few hours).

(just the primer and foundation with setting powder)

I definitely recommend both products if you’re looking for good quality products, friendly to animals and with a bargain price tag!

I hope you enjoyed this post, let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadow Palette

Product Reviews, Uncategorized

Who doesn’t need a bit of glitter in their life? I know I sure like to have totally popping eyes. As it was my birthday last week I was gifted this pallete from my boyfriend and I have literally fallen in love with it.

The packaging is absolutely stunning, a matte black outer box with a glittered galaxy print on the front with holographic writing. Urban Decay are well known for their luxury packaging and this definitely is pleasing on the eye. And that doesn’t stop with the outer box,  the pallete itself is a sturdy plastic box covered with silver glitter and a fun mirror engraved name. Feels and looks like a high end item.

Inside you’ll find eight glitzy eyeshadows that contain microfine bits of iridescent sparkle and 3-D metallics. I was expecting a dry almost powdery feeling as it’s ‘glitter’ but this is anything but. A creamy, smooth formula that blends out so easily with either your fingers or a eyeshadow brush.

Look at that colour payoff!. This is just light swatches without any primer. All eight of these eyeshadows have such great colour pay off and high pigmentation. So far I have worn ‘Specter’,’Element,’Vega’ and ‘Lithium’ and all four lasted all day and didn’t print as my skin turned oily.

This pallete costs £36 from John Lewis, for a eyeshadow it is quite pricey but in my opinion it is worth every penny to create stunning shimmery over the top night looks or for subtle day time wear.

I will be doing a makeup look in my next blog post using this pallete so keep your eyes peeled.
