MAC Cosmetics Favourites Old & New

Makeup Looks, Product Reviews, Uncategorized

Hello beauties, we all have a handful of brands that we love when it comes to makeup and MAC cosmetics are in my top 5. I first fell in love with them when I tried their studio fix Fluid foundation and knew I had to try so much more. I have put together my favourite products, some old favourites and some that I have newly discovered!

Disclaimer- This posts contains affiliate links but all opinions and reviews are as always, honest and my own.

MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation

The first product I wanted to start with is my holy grail foundation. I have been using this for over 6 or seven years now and i still haven’t found a foundation that is as good! It has a medium coverage that can easily be built up to full, has a amazing colour range with a incredible 64 shades, looks so flawless on the skin, photographs well and most importantly lasts all day on my dry skin without needing a touch up. I can never be without this foundation and always make sure I have a back up bottle ready! It’s also worth buying the £4.50 reusable pump from MAC as this foundation doesn’t come with one. This retails at £26 for 30ml and I use the shade NC15.

MAC Instacurl Lash Mascara

A few weeks ago I found this mascara in TK Maxx for a bargain £7. I hadn’t tried any mascaras from MAC before so thought what a great way to test. I’m so glad I did as this mascara makes my lashes look so full and fluffy without giving the caked on spider leg effect. I really like the shape and design of the packaging as well as the wand. This makes it easy to get into every lash including the corner and bottom lashes. I find this super easy to take off and it doesn’t transfer throughout the day. This normally retails for £20.

MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish

I was first inspired but this highlighter by fellow blogger Mufavourites when she reviewed it not so long a go. This extra dimension skin finish in the shade ‘whisper of gilt’ was first launched last year as a limited edition Christmas item (you may remember its festive snow flake design) but has since been rereleased this year. I’m a sucker for a light gold highlight, it’s suits my pale skin tone without leaving a cast and leaves a gorgeous wet look sheen to the skin, making it look healthy and giving it a inner glow. This can be worn natural by applying lightly or more intense by layering it or spritzing some setting spray before hand to make it blinding. This costs £25.50.

MAC Extra Dimension Blush

Im a huge fan of a bright pink blush and have lots of matte finishes so wanted to pick up a something with a shimmer. This Extra Dimension blush is in shade ‘sweets for my sweet’ which is a gorgeous candy pink with rose gold shimmers. I love that this can be worn really sheer for a pop of natural, healthy colour or built up for a more intense look. I will definitely be picking this blush up in a coral shade for summer as it doesn’t cling to texture and I love the smooth formula. This costs £23.

MAC Matte Lipstick

New to my collections are a few of MAC’s cult matte lipsticks. I had never tried them before and I’m so glad I have. They have a really smooth application thanks to the creamy formula and dry down to a matte. They have great staying power and don’t make the lips look or feel dry as it dries down. I picked up the shades ‘Beatrix’ which is a vampy berry shade with a metallic finish. Shade ‘modern temptress’ which a dark red with a brown undertone and ‘chilli’ which is a stunning dark smoked red. All three of these colours are perfect for autumn/winter and I can’t wait to add more to my collection. These cost £17.50 each.

MAC Mini Lipstick

Another lipstick newbie but this time in a mini version. Recently MAC released their cult lipsticks in a mini form for travel purposes or just for people to try out their formula for those who don’t want to spend full price. I picked up the shade ‘Twirl’ which is terracotta brown. These cost £10.

MAC Lip Pencil Liner

Lastly we have a lip liner, this came as part of a duo set with one of the full sized lipsticks above. This lipliner in the shade ‘auburn’ is the perfect shade to pair with the lipstick ‘chilli’. The pencils formula is super smooth and creamy and oh so pigmented. This can be used to line the lips or used to draw all over for a full colour. This costs £14.

From left to right- Lip Liner shade ‘auburn’, Mini lipstick shade ‘whirl’, Matte lipstick shade ‘chilli’. Matte lipstick shade ‘modern temptress’, Matte lipstick shade ‘Beatrix’, Extra Dimension blush shade ‘sweets for my sweet’ and Extra Dimension skin finish shade ‘whisper of gilt’.

Buxom Beauty Event Haul

Collaborations, Hauls, Product Reviews, Uncategorized

Hello beauties, I recently was invited to a Buxom beauty event ( you can read about that here) and was gifted some amazing goodies to try out and I wanted to share with you what I received and give some mini reviews and swatches!

Disclaimer- Some of the products were gifted to me from a beauty event. As always reviews are honest and my own.

The first product I want to talk about is the Buxom Divine Goddess Illuminator that I got the chance to to try at the event. As soon as I tried it I knew I had to buy it and I’m so glad I did. This is a illuminating cream that can be used as a subtle liquid highlight or mixed in with a foundation for a dewy finish. I love the smooth formula and that it doesn’t have chunky glitter in it. It gives off the most gorgeous iridescent glow and I really like the appearance of my makeup with this underneath. This can also be used on the body and looks so beautiful on the shoulder bones. This costs £21 for 59ml.

Next up is two lip plumping products.

The first, a product that I was gifted for going to the event is the Buxom ‘Full On’ Lip Polish in the shade ‘Sugar’. This is a U.S best selling sheer, shimmering lip polish that plumps up the lips making them look fuller. This has a gorgeous glossy finish with small flecks of glitter. It doesn’t feel gritty though and is the perfect gloss to wear on its own or on top of a lipstick. The vitamin A and E in this keeps your lips soft and protected. This costs £15 for 4.44ml

Secondly another product that I purchased in this gorgeous coral Buxom ‘Full On’ Lip Cream in the shade ‘Mai Tai’. This has a slightly different finish to the gloss above, it is smoother and doesn’t have the glitter in it. This gives a high shine glass finish. I thought this shade would be perfect to wear with my summer looks. I also love how much these plump up my lips and love the fresh tingling sensation it gives. This cost £15 for 4.44ml

I was also lucky enough to be gifted one of the Buxom ‘Big and Sexy’ Matte Gel Lipsticks in the shade ‘Toxic Cherry’. If you are avid reader of my blog you will know how much I live for a red lip. The formula is so smooth thanks to it being a gel and I love how soft it looks on the lip. I will even go as far as to say it’s my new favourite formula and that’s a huge statement. I will definitely be picking up more shades in this lipstick. The only downside is that the shape of the baton is huge so those with smaller lips will struggle with application and will need to apply with a lip brush instead. This costs £15 for 2.6g.

Lastly I received a travel size Buxom ‘Big Tease’ Plumping Mascara. I was really excited to try this after hearing lots of great things about it from the event. It has a pair shaped wand thats really easy to use and helps you get into the lashes and fully coat them. It makes them so much longer and fuller without looking clumpy and looks amazing on the bottom lashes. I will definitely be picking up the full sized version of this when I’ve used this travel one up. It costs £18 for 13ml.

Thank you so much to Buxom for gifting me some of these goodies, overall I’m really impressed with the brand and will definitely be trying out more of their products in the future!

High End Bargain Makeup Haul From TK MAXX

Hauls, Product Reviews, Uncategorized

Hello beauties, so I was recently in TK MAXX as I hadn’t been to have a look in ages. I forgot just how many high end makeup and beauty products they sell at discounted prices. I picked up a good handful of items and wanted to show you what I managed to get my hands on. Every store is different as it’s a discount store so stock may be different depending on the shop near you. I have linked any products that are up currently on their website though!

They have brands such as Mac, Bobbi Brown, Pixi, Estée Lauder, Nars, Guerlain, Becca, Too Faced and many many more!

For those of you who may be unfamiliar with TK MAXX, it’s a discount store that sell designer/high end items at a discount price. They sell clothing, beauty, cosmetics and homeware. My favourite time to go have a rummage is around Christmas as they have all their gift sets going cheap! If you live in the UK i definitely recommend finding one on your travels. Just for the makeup bargains alone!

Nars Single Eyeshadow RRP £19.95 Now £8

This is such a gorgeous eyeshadow, it’s a rustic red shade and I am huge fan of the Nars eyeshadow formula already. It’s super pigmented, not chalky and I can’t wait to create a smoked grunge look tutorial with this! Plus bonus points for the adorable little mirror.

Make Up For Ever Mascara WAS £20 NOW £4.99

I picked up this mascara mainly because I was running low on my current one and also because I haven’t tried a mascara from MUF. I love the pear shaped wand, it makes it super easy to get into the lashes and makes them look so full and long. This is also the perfect size to travel.

Too Faced Perfect Black EyelinerWAS £18 NOW £6

It’s probably everyone’s quest when looking for a black eye pencil to find one that’s super jet black, enter this marvellous find. It’s super easy to use and is definitely the most pigmented pencil I’ve used to date. It also has a smudging tool at the other end. I will be using this in a upcoming makeup tutorial smoked out with the Nars shadow above!

Too Faced Melted LipsticksWAS £21 NOW £4.99

These three lipsticks were such a bargain, I have tried this formula before and loved it. I picked up three shades. ‘Peony’ which is a light dusky pink with a metallic finish, ‘chocolate cherries’ which is deep brown shade and smells like chocolate frosting and shade ‘villain’ which a a very rich purple colour.

Milk Makeup Lip MarkerWAS £20 NOW £4.99

How funny is this packaging, it felt so wrong applying. Just like drawing on your lip with a regular marker. That aside the bright orange shade ‘turnt’ is absolutely stunning and is super pigmented. It was a bit of a ordeal to get off though to be honest.

Too Faced La Creme LipstickWAS £22 NOW £4.99

Cute packaging? Check. High pigmentation? Check. This gorgeous shade is perfect for the summer and has a super moisturising formula that makes lips look full and juicy. This is shade ‘juicy melon’ which is a cute coral colour.

Pixi Glow-Y Powder Blush WAS £14 NOW £6

I picked this in the shade ‘rome rose’ after googling a swatch as it has the most gorgeous rose gold shimmer to it. It looks really pretty on the cheeks and gives a beautiful glow from within look to the face. It’s really pigmented so you have to be careful not to go too heavy handed as you don’t want to look like a clown. That aside the pan size is huge!

From left to right- Pixi blush, Nars eyeshadow, Too Faced Pencil, Milk marker, Too Faced lipstick and three Too Faced Melted lippies

What’s the best bargain you’ve found in TK MAXX? Let me know in the comments below!

Testing Out Benefit Brow Products: KA Brow And Gimme Brow+

Product Reviews, Uncategorized

Hello beauties, You may or may not know that I recently had a hair colour change back to my lighter natural hair colour, I’m absolutely loving it but only had brow products that were suited to dark brown or black hair. I thought it was a great time to treat myself to some new brow products to try. I decided to pick up two products from the Benefit brow range.

Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links. All opinions honest and my own.

I decided to pick up the KA BROW Pomade as I am used to using the ABH Dip Brow and also picked up the GIMME BROW gel as I love using it after a Pomade to not only spike up my brows but keep them in place. I have been opting for a more natural looking brow recently but still have sparse areas at the tail of the brow that need filling.

Ka-BROW Eyebrow Cream Gel Colour

Packaging

The gel comes in a clear glass jar with a pretty silver lid that twists off. At the top you will find a angled brush that pulls out for you to apply the product onto your brows. I found this brush really handy to use as it managed to create really natural looking brow hairs as it was so small and precise. This is extremely travel friendly due to the size which always a plus for me.

Formula

The formula of this gel/pomade isn’t creamy and is tougher then ones I’ve used in the past, this isn’t a bad thing however. It’s super easy to pick up colour onto the brush and transfer it into the brows. It provides the most gorgeous hair like brows and a natural finish. So if you like a full on brow you may have to go in a few times to get that level of pigmentation. As it’s a stiffer formula I found this dried down fairly quickly which I loved as I worry about my brows smudging throughout the day.

Price

This cost £20.50 for 3g which admittedly is pricy, but I’m used to paying £19 for the ABH Pomade which I find far too pigmented for a natural looking brow. A little does goes a long way with the Ka Brow and ‘Shade 3’ worked perfect for my hair colour so I will definitely be repurchasing.

Gimme Brow+ Volumizing Eyebrow Gel

Packaging

One thing I was slightly disappointed in when i received this was the size, I honestly thought they had sent me a travel sized version but no it’s the full sized. The gel comes in a sturdy plastic tube which again is amazing for travel due to the size. How cute is the little wand it comes with though? It makes it super easy to get into all the brow hairs to direct them upwards. I have read that this is this reformulated version of Gimme Brow hence the added +.

Formula

This has a very gloopy kind of formula, it’s not sticky however. It’s super easy to apply to the brow and isn’t messy at all. This has a very sheer pigment to it and has just the right amount of cover to give a natural look. Perfect for those who like a slight tint to finish but I wouldn’t recommend this to people who love a very strong brow unless you were looking to just set the brows with this.

Price

This costs £20.50 for 3g which to me is way too pricey, it’s just so small. I love the look of the brow and how well it stays put with this but I’m going to go through this too quickly to justify spending out on it each time. If it was larger and say the same size as a average mascara I wouldn’t mind, so I will be sticking with my trusting ABH clear gel in future as it’s better value for money and does the same thing.

Overall I really like both products, the colour was spot on and I adore the natural finish, it looks like I haven’t done anything to my brows and gives it that bushy look that I love.

Have you tried any of the Benefit brow products? Let me know in the comments below!

Skin Kissed Vitamin C Serum

Collaborations, Product Reviews, Uncategorized

Hello beauties, Skincare is something that is extremely important to me, I never miss the chance to keep my skin in check and believe its the most important step in creating a flawless base for your makeup application so when the lovely team at Skin Kissed got in touch with me to test our their Vitamin C serum I jumped at the chance!

Disclaimer- This product was sent to me for free for testing purposes. That being said I will always give my honest opinions on any products reviewed.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock this past year you will know that serums are huge in the skincare industry, particularly Vitamin C serums. I love testing out new skincare and love finding new products that could combat my dull skin so was excited to see what happened with this serum.

The ingredients used in this Skinkkised™ Vitamin C Serum have been used for centuries to achieve natural and healthy skin, but it is only now we have finally brought all these unique ingredients into one perfect bottle.

Ingredients

Vitamin C is used in skincare as it plays a huge part in slowing down the ageing process by reducing wrinkles, fine lines and blemishes as well as improving skins overall radiance.

Hyaluronic Acid is a great acid to use to help keep moisture levels in your skin, thus leaving it pump and more youthful looking.

Collagen is crucial to supple skin. The wrinkle-preventing protein that naturally occurs in our bodies keeps skin plump and youthful.

Packaging

The serum comes in a sturdy black glass bottle with gold text, I quite like this packaging as it’s different to most clear bottles you see serums come in. The applicator comes in the form of a pippet/dropper which makes it super easy to draw up the right amount of product and apply to the face.

Formula

Once applied to my face I found this has a thin formula that is typical for a oil product but it has a sticky feel to it. The tackiness makes it a great base for Makeup to adhere to and is even mentioned on their website that it doubles up as a primer. Although it has sticky feeling it wasn’t uncomfortable on the skin and did give that dewy look that I achieve when using other oil based primers.

Results

I like to use once in the morning and once at night and apply by patting it onto my skin for maximum effect. I have been using this serum for roughly two weeks now and my skin (I haven’t been sleeping all that well so it’s stressed at me) has definitely improved. It’s just looking overall brighter and less dull. I did notice that in the first week that it gave me a few small spots on my cheek area but I decided to give it more of a chance and they faded very quickly so it must of just been my skin getting used to a new product.

Price

This has a price tag of £29.95 for 20ml which I think is a high price for just 20mls but it does go a long way and you will definitely get your money’s worth in the difference you see. Could you find the same kind of product for cheaper in a brand like The Ordinary? Probably. It’s definitely worth looking into.

Lime Crime Wet Cherry Lip Gloss

Product Reviews, Uncategorized

Hello beauties, I have been a huge fan of Lime Crime for years now, they can’t be beat when it comes to packaging and I love their creative ideas as well as their great quality products. So when they advertised their newest product release I squealed a little.

Lime Crime have released lip glosses that have a high shine finish without the sticky feeling and I knew I had to get the bright red one ‘marachino cherry’, they’re 12 shades to choose from including glitter glosses that you can layer over a matte lipstick to give a glittery finish.

Lime Crime are redefining shine – and we want one in every colour… Glistening like a maraschino cherry, this ultra-glistening gloss imparts the ultimate wet-look, light-reflecting shine in 12 spectacular shades, from opalescent ‘Disco Cherry’ to vampy berry-hued ‘Black Cherry’. There are two finishes to choose from too – ‘Juicy Sheer’ gives a translucent burst of colour while ‘Sparkly Sheer’ is packed with iridescent pearls to light up lips. Whichever shade you choose, the formula feels lightweight and comfortable, leaving sticky, heavy formulas stuck in the past. Time to pucker up!

Packaging

Once again Lime Crime boss it with their packaging but that doesn’t surprise me. It comes in a ever so girly sturdy plastic tube with foil print fancy text and cherry design. I love that the doe foot applicator is larger than their Velvetines liquid lipstick as it makes for better application.

Formula

The first thing I want to mention is how gorgeous this smells, as you can imagine it has a cherry scent to it but with a warm sugar smell added, basically like a freshly baked cherry pie. The texture is smooth and has a almost oily look to it but has the same thick consistency that most glosses have meaning it won’t run down your lips after application. It was extremely easy to apply and makes your lips looks so plump and juicy whilst being hydrating. Damn when this hits the light it looks stunning, this particular shade doesn’t have any glitter in just sheer pigment for a glassy high shine look.

Wear

I didn’t have high hopes for this being ‘long lasting’ as it is a gloss without the tacky feeling, as soon as I ate or had a drink it came off straight away but I find that with all glosses. However it’s so easy to reapply that this isn’t a problem if you have the time and opportunity to do so. It’s also super comfortable to wear.

Swatch

Price

This costs £16 for 2.9ml which is why I only picked up one! I think it’s quite pricey for a lip gloss that’s not long lasting but it just looks so damn beautiful on the lips with dewy skin that I definitely don’t regret buying it and I will be picking up a few more shades when my budget can allow it. If you’re interested in buying you can find this gloss here.

I will be filming a look soon for my YouTube channel with this so keep an eye out for that!

Summer Essentials 2018

Product Reviews, Uncategorized

Hello beauties, As you read this I’m currently on holiday in Berlin, enjoying the sun and I want to share my top summer essentials that are getting me through the warm season. From makeup products I’m loving, products that are keeping me smooth and tanned and summer scents that I’ve been enjoying.

Disclaimer- This post contains affiliate links. As always all opinions and reviews are honest and my own.

Treat Yo Self Coconut Oil & Lavender Oil Sugar Scrub

When the sun comes out it also means that the legs come out so I want my pins to be as beautiful as possible. First step to achieving summer friendly legs is exfoliation. I’ve been loving this sugar scrub from a brand called Treat Yo Self that I picked up in TK MAXX. It has a medium grain to it that buffs the skin and removes dead skin cells leaving smooth and fresh looking skin. It also has a gorgeous soothing lavender scent and coconut oil to keep your legs soft.

Wilkinson Sword Intuition f.a.b Razor

The best time to shave is after you have exfoliated as it makes the little hairs stand up ready for a nice clean shave and prevents ingrown hairs. I was kindly sent the Intuition f.a.b razor from Wilkinson Sword to test and it’s my new favourite razor. It’s different to any other women’s razor because it has top blades that shave up and bottom blades that shave down meaning you don’t even have to lift the razor off your body. It’s provides such a clean shave without any nips or cuts. I will definitely be buying more razor heads for this.

Rimmel Sun Shimmer Instant Tan

I’ve recently been getting into using fake tan. I was kindly sent this by Influenster for testing purposes. You can read my full review here. I’ve been loving how easy it is to apply with a tanning mitt and the natural sun kissed colour it gives without looking orange or patchy. It dries down so quickly and doesn’t transfer. The best thing is about this is that it washes off the next day which makes it perfect for days I don’t want a tan.

Huda Beauty Coral Obsessions Palette

I recently received this palette here. Just look at these colours. I’ve never seen a eyeshadow palette that screams summer more than this one. It has seven warm and bright matte shades and two gorgeous shimmers. Packed full of pigmented, it’s my new favourite palette!

Kiko Milano Nail Lacquer ‘Bright Orange’

There’s nothing better then a pop of colour to pair with a nice summer outfit. I’ve been loving this bright orange shade from Kiko Milano. It’s super cheap and easy to apply and is the most gorgeous summery colour.

Kiko Milano Gold Waves Highlighter

I have a full review of this stunning highlighter here. Everything from the packaging to the soft and natural glow from within look it gives screams beautiful. I love how subtle but glowy it looks on the skin. I basically haven’t stopped using it since I picked it up. It’s super cheap and the pan size is huge! When I want a more intense highlight I use this with some fixing spray to really make it pop!

Ed Hardy Shake & Spray Fragrance

I’ve always been a sucker for a sweet and floral scent. Think the girliest most sickly sweet scent and that’s what I love to smell like. I love how fresh and fruity this spray is. Nice and light on a hot day to keep you smelling scrumptious. I also love the packaging. It’s on sale at the moment so gab yourself a bargain!

Bed Head Beach Bound Protection Spray

This will be featured in a beach hair post next week but I wanted to add it to my summer essentials beforehand. It’s not just your skin that needs protection from the sun, your hair can get sun damage too! That’s where this protection spray comes in. I spray it all over my damp hair and dry as normal. It keeps my hair nice and soft as well as protected and also helps lock my colour in as I always colour my hair.

Colab Dry Shampoo In Tropical

I’m a huge fan of dry shampoo, being a mother I don’t always have time to wash my hair so dry shampoo in a must for me some mornings. I used to use Batiste until I came across this brand. Basically like Batiste but without the horrible white residue that lingers in your hair. Simply spray in as usual and brush your hair hair. It’s leaves you with clean and voluminous hair and smells so heavenly.

What are your summer essentials? Let me know in the comments below!

Becca Backlight Priming Filter

Product Reviews, Uncategorized

Hello beauties, if you read my Huda Beauty Coral Obsessions palette review then you will know that I put in a huge Cult Beauty haul which included the product that I’m reviewing today. I have heard many great things from YouTube reviews about the Becca Backlight primer being amazing for those with dry skin and it providing a gorgeous dew to the skin so I desperately wanted to get my hands on it.

Creators of the finest, skin-perfecting formulas, BECCA’s gorgeous Backlight Priming Filter is the secret to a gorgeous glow. Synonymous with effortless enhancement, BECCA’s multi-award-winning range stars rich pigments, soft hues and weightless coverage to facilitate an enviable, airbrushed effect – so you look naturally luminous (and absolutely flawless).

Packaging

Does anyone else get excited when a product comes in a glass bottle? There’s just something so luxurious about it, especially when it’s frosted like this one. The bottle has a study feel to it and has the gorgeous Metal design and logo on the top of the cap the same as the Skin Perfector compacts. This primer comes with a easy to use pump which is always a bonus. The only problem is I couldn’t imagine this being very travel friendly, but does look gorgeous on a dressing table.

Formula

This has a fairly thin texture, not thin enough to be runny as it holds its shape once pumped out. You will notice straight away that this primer has a strong citrusy scent to it. I personally love a scent but if that’s something you don’t enjoy then you will hate this. I think the scent goes very well and has a fresh skin kind of vibe to it.

I found this formula super easy to apply, I like to warm it up a little in my fingers and gently pat into my face. It’s a liquid consistency and soaks nicely into the skin. It has a peachy tint to it which is amazing at brightening the skins overall complexion.

Finish

You will see in the picture below that I applied it to my bare ‘matte’ skin on my hand and the how much of a gorgeous sheen this gives. It’s the most perfect glow without huge chunky glitter, giving the skin that wet look without looking oily or any greasy/wet feeling to it. I think this is perfect for those with dry skin to give that hydrated look and feel to the skin. I would possible avoid if you have oily skin as it could make your makeup look too oily as the day goes on. This looked so pretty underneath my makeup, just a healthy looking glow and thanks to the tacky feel after applying this primer, it did make my foundation adhere better and a little bit of dew showed through, which I personally love.

Price

Now the downside is the price, if you’re on a tight budget then look away. This primer costs £32 for 30ml. To me that is super pricey for a primer and I don’t usually have the budget. Luckily I had a discount code at the time so it wasn’t so bad but I will be using this sparingly and not every day just to make it last. I will literally cry when it runs out! You can find it here.

Huda Beauty Coral Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette

Product Reviews, Uncategorized

Hello beauties, does anyone else ‘accidentally’ land onto the Cult Beauty website then want everything? Well that’s what happened when I picked up the palette I’m reviewing today. Did I need it? No, did I think it would be a perfect edition to my summer makeup looks? Hell yes. Keep reading to hear my thoughts, some swatches and a eye look created with this palette.

Love your Huda palette but can’t fit it in your make up bag? Or just desperate to sample the shadows that have sent the beauty world into a spin? The answer has arrived (at last!) with Huda Beauty’s Coral Obsessions Palette, a slimline edit of the most sought-after orange, red and yellow-toned hues – all you need to achieve an array of on-trend coral eye looks. The ultimate capsule make up wardrobe, this unites nine ultra-versatile, buttery smooth shadows – two shimmering metallics surrounded by seven saturated mattes. We’re completely besotted with the range of hues and you’re guaranteed to fall head-over-heels too – especially with the beautifully burnished orange-copper tones, not to mention the rich rosy reds and stunning saffron hue.

Packaging

First thing I want to mention about this palette is how small it is, when i saw it on the website I really thought it was going to be bigger so I was a little disappointed when a palm sized palette showed up in the post. That being said the packing is eye catching with it’s broken eyeshadow picture which is I think is quite creative. The eyeshadows are housed in a flip up box with magnetic clasps and it does feel fairly sturdy. As expected the pan sizes are a average size to fit in the smaller palette, but it is easy to dip the brush in and out without making a mess.

Formula

This palette has seven matte shades and two shimmers. I think mattes in eyeshadow palettes can be quite hit and miss, often they are very dry, chalky and hard to blend. Not with this palette, they are incredibly smooth and so soft to work into the eye leaving a seamless look after blending. Same for the shimmers, just gorgeous pigment and minimal fall out. I’m in love with the last shade on this palette, it’s a stunning rose gold shade and the sheen it gives is super dreamy. I will definitely be using this for a halo eye, inner corner highlight or on it own on the lids with some gloss.

Swatches

Price

This cost me £25 which I think is on the pricier side for such a small palette but the colours are so fun and I’m not disappointed as the colour pay off is incredible. You can find it here. I will definitely be picking up the other palettes in this collection just because I think they are perfect for creating a eye look in one palette without having to dip into others and would be great to travel with. I’m going to Berlin in a week so will be taking this with me.
