Halloween 2018 Makeup Picks

Favourites, Makeup Looks, Product Reviews, Uncategorized

Hello beauties, today’s post is a few of my favourite makeup up picks that will be seeing me through the spooky season. I have created two creepy looks below too!

Disclaimer- This posts contains affiliate links but all opinions and reviews are as always, honest and my own.

Danessa Myricks Vision Cover cream foundation

One of my favourite makeup artists has her own makeup line and is now being sold in the UK! The way she makes skin look is so incredible so I knew I had to pick up her foundation. It provides full coverage and I only have to use one pump to cover everything. The finish is semi matte and makes the skin look like silk. This is the perfect base to wear on its own daily or as a base for applying colourful face paints for your costumes.

Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray

Name a better setting spray than the All Nighter. I’ll wait! Jokes aside this setting spray is a game changer for your makeup. I use this after using all my powder products to 1. Set everything in place and 2. Make my powders look less dry. It’s pricey at £24 but I won’t be without this miracle in a bottle. I often get it when it’s on offer in the Debenhams promotion!

Sleek I-divine Bad Girl eyeshadow palette

I’m pretty sure I included this palette in my 2017 halloween favourites and it still does the job. It has everything you need to create a intense smokey eye. It has the most gorgeous plum purple and royal blue, along with a gun metal silver and the most pigmented matte black. I don’t think it’s currently being sold anymore but I have found it on amazing for less than £6. It’s so pigmented too!

Phoera Red single eyeshadow

I used this in a full face of eBay makeup video not so long a go. It’s always a real struggle to find a bright red that’s not dry, patchy and is pigmented. This single eyeshadow is the most gorgeous classic red. The colour payoff is insane and it’s super easy to work with. I picked this up for a bargain £2.18.

Illamasqua Beyond Powder highlighter

I reviewed this not so long ago here. It’s a very finely milled white highlighter with the most ghoulish green shimmer to do it, perfect if you’re after something a little different to the pink, gold or champagne highlighters and perfect to add to a spooky look.

Sleek Highlighting Elixir drops

This liquid highlighter is new to my makeup collection. I love that this can be used two ways, as a highlighter and mixed into foundation for a dewy effect. I did both in the second look below and it really changed to the appearance of the foundation. I love the peachy pink shade and the wet look sheen it provides without any chunky glitter.

NYX Soft Matte lip cream

Is it Halloween without a dark lip, I love being able to play with out there colours like this NYX matte lip cream in the shade ‘Moscow’ which is a navy blue. I am a big fan of the formula of the Soft matte lip creams.

Eyes using Sleek I divine bad girl, lips using NYX Matte lip cream in shade ‘moscow’

NYX Strictly Vinyl lip gloss

I recently reviewed a few items from the NYX Strictly Vinyl collection here. I love a glossy finish and this shade ‘femme fatale’ which is a stunning black just screams Halloween. I love it paired with this bright red eye for a contrast of colour.

Eyes using Phoera single eyeshadow in shade ‘red’ and lips using NYX Strictly Vinyl lip gloss shade ‘femme fatale’

Obsession Halloween Palettes. Review, Swatches & Eye Looks

Makeup Looks, Product Reviews, Uncategorized

Hello beauties, as you can already tell by the amazing makeup looks that people are creating on social media and the Halloween props in the stores, the spooky season is in full swing. But what if you don’t want to create a full on make up look for your Halloween shenanigans? I came across two palettes that are perfect for creating some simple Halloween looks that I wanted to share here with you beauties.

Disclaimer- This posts contains affiliate links but all opinions and reviews are as always, honest and my own.

Both palettes are a from a brand called Obsession which have recently been stocked at Boots in the UK but can be bought at Revolution Beauty. They are mainly known for their single pans but have now branched out into lots of other makeup products with bargain price points.

Packaging-

The packaging is similar for both palettes so I decided to include them in one section. The first thing that has to be said is how large the pan size is, think what a size of a average blush palette would be. I also love the clear lid so you can see what’s inside. Plus a little holographic text never hurt anyone.

Formula-

The first palette is the Obsession Be Very Afraid eyeshadow palette.
This has 8 shades, this includes 4 mattes, 2 shimmers and 2 fun pressed glitters. This is definitely perfect for those who like to create a darker smokey eye. I can see this working well for a simple vampire or witch look for Halloween.

I found the mattes to be a little on the dry side but they were workable. Each shade has great pigmentation with the exception of the shade ‘eerie’ which was quite patchy. The glitters are what appealed this palette to me and I was really pleased to find that they were not patchy. I found using my finger and pressing them onto the lid was the best way to apply.

Price-

This is priced at a amazing £5 which is a absolute bargain and can be bought here. This is a fab price for the colours and the pan size, you can definitely create and handful of looks with just the one palette.

Shades- ‘no sleep, spooked, panic and corrupt’

Shades- ‘eerie, creepy, petrify and desecrate’

Using shade ‘no sleep’ for transition, shade ‘corrupt’ to create the shape. Shade ‘creepy’ in the centre of the lid, shade ‘spooked’ under the eye and shade ‘panic’ on the inner corner.

Formula-

Next up is the Obsession Be A Unicorn eyeshadow palette which is something for you girly fans out there. It includes 8 sickly sweet shades for creating a magical unicorn for Halloween or festival. Inside you will find 3 mattes, 3 shimmers and two pressed glitters.

The formula is very consistent with the palette above, slightly on the dry side but super easy to blend out with a fluffy brush. Each shade has great pigmentation and the pressed glitters in this palette are truely stunning. I had to create a look with the shade ‘immortal’ as it’s a two toned glitter.

Price-

This palette also costs an amazing £5 and can be found here.

Shades- ‘alternative, magic dust, immortal and entranced’

Shades- ‘creature, unconventional, elixir and eternal’

Using shade ‘alternative ‘ as transition, shade ‘entranced’ to create the shape. Shade ‘immortal ‘ in the centre of the lid and shade ‘magic dust’ in the inner corner and brow bone.

What do you think of these bargain palettes? Have you ever tried anything from Obsession before? Let me know in the comments below.

Never trust a wolf. Halloween makeup look.

Makeup Looks, Uncategorized

I originally said that I was only doing two Halloween looks but I couldn’t resist posting another. This is my Halloween costume ready for Saturdays Halloween party so I decided to have a makeup test run as wounds can be really tricky to get right. I am a complete novice when it comes to makeup, especially FX makeup so I definitely need more practice!. This is my take on little red riding hood gone wrong!.

Products used in this look-

Wounds-

To make the wounds I used PVA glue and layered tissue on top, once you have built enough layers let it dry until its a tacky texture. Then using a pair of tweezers start tearing a whole in the middle, folding the tissue up as you making it look like torn skin.

I then applied foundation to the wounds as well as the rest of my face to look like the rest of my face. Then using nude eyeshadow to deepen the colour of the scars, red eyeshadow to make the wounds look sore and black on the edges and inside of the wounds to add depth and make them look dirty and bruised. Add some gel blood and you have a gross wound.

Face-

  • Freedom Pro Studio Primer Water
  • Collection Lasting Perfection foundation (shade porcelain)
  • Mac Pro Longwear Concealer (shade NC15)
  • RCMA No Colour Powder
  • Barry M Fall In Love Palette (nude and dark red)
  • Sleek Bad Girl Eyeshadow Palette (shade noir)
  • Snazaroo FX Gel Blood

Eyes-

  • Sleek Bad Girl Eyeshadow Palette (shade noir)
  • Ciate Wonderwand Mascara

Lips-

  • Urban Decay Vice 24/7 Glide On Lip Liner (shade 714)
  • Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick (shade outlaw)

I hope you like this look, this is my last Halloween post for this year, it has been so fun creating these looks for you beauties!. What are you going as for Halloween? Let me know in the comments below.

Something Snakey Halloween Makeup

Makeup Looks, Uncategorized

This is my second Halloween look of the year. You can see my first one (Lady Vamp) here. I  was a bit unsure of what look I wanted to create at first but after re watching the Harry Potter films I was inspired by the Basilisk.

I wanted my skin to still look like skin so I didn’t cake on too much green, doing this added more depth to the over all look. I used fishnet tights to create a snake print (should of seen me with them on my head, it was comical).

image1 (8)

Products used in this look-

Face-

  • Mac Strobe Cream (as moisturiser)
  • Snazaroo Green Face Paint (used as foundation on face and body)
  • NYX Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator (shade Sunbeam)
  • Urban Decay Vice 2 palette (shade Damaged. Used as contour)
  • I Heart Makeup Fixing Spray

Eyes-

  • Morphe 12Z Zodiac Eyeshadow palette (shade Dark Green)
  • NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil (shade Milk. To line the waterline)
  • Natural Collection Clear Mascara

Lips-

  • Morphe 12Z Zodiac Eyeshadow palette (shade Lime Green Metallic)
  • Sleek Dip It Liner (shade Black)

I had so much fun creating this look, but taking it all off was a complete nightmare!, I had green on my ears for days after this!. A top tip I found is to use a oil to melt off the makeup before using a makeup wipe.

What looks did you create this Halloween? I’d love to know, so let me know in the comments below!.

Halloween Makeup Picks

Favourites, Product Reviews, Uncategorized

When I think of Halloween I immediately think dark smoky eyes, bold lip colours and creepy looking nails. I have put together a small selection of my favourite Halloween themed makeup to get you through the spooky season. Whether you have a Halloween party to go to or just wanting to amp up your daily look. I have included links on where to buy these items!.

Morphe 12Z Zodiac Eyeshadow Palette

This is one of my favourite eyeshadow palettes and the very first Morphe product I bought. With twelve eyeshadows that are perfect to create lots of fun eye looks, from smoky to shimmers. The pigmentation is incredible, my favourite shade is the dark teal shimmer shade (swatched below).

LA Splash Day Of The Dead liquid lipstick (Shade El Catrin)

The spooky packaging aside, this is a gorgeous metallic red, making it different from your usual every day red. It has fine specs of gold pigment and the colour pay off is amazing, especially when it hits the lights. It was included in my monthly favourites not so long ago as I adored the heart shaped applicator.

Lime Crime Perlees Lipstick (Shade Denim)

As you can see I have used this too near death (excuse the pun), this is another metallic shade but this time in a deep blue, I don’t normally have much of a excuse to wear this shade so always take full advantage on Halloween. This looks amazing with nude eyeshadow and a wing and would be great in a witchy makeup look!.

Freedom Pro Matte Lipstick (shade Noir)

I obviously had to include a purple lippie, I recently picked this up and have been loving how it has a plum hue to it and how bad ass it looks, its super pigmented and I love the matte finish. It came in a set of five that I will be doing a review of soon.

NYX Liquid Suede Liquid Lipstick (shade Vintage)

This is one of my everyday favourites for Autumn/Winter, it has a smooth and creamy formula that dries matte. I love the deep red shade and it would be perfect for creating a vampy makeup look.

halloweenpick5

If you’re not too keen on wearing dark, bold colours on your face then why not try doing something spooky to your nails?. These are the shades I have been loving recently, especially that grungy green shade.

Barry M High Shine Gelly Nail Paint (shade Plum)

Barry M Nail Paint (shade Black)

Maybelline Color Show Nail Polish (shade Downtown Red)

Seventeen Colour Carnival Nail Polish (shade Green Gold Shimmer)

Lady Vamp Halloween Makeup.

Makeup Looks, Uncategorized

Happy Wednesday beauties, This is my first Halloween look of the season (I will be doing two looks in total). I wanted to start with something that was easy for everyone to do with makeup shades you probably already have in your makeup collection. I opted for a typical vampire, using a matte base rather then my usual dewy skin to add to that dark and dindgy dead look. The best thing about fancy dress is you can be as plain or as bold as you like!.
