The Body Shop Peppermint Candy Cane Review

Lifestyle, Product Reviews, Uncategorized

Hello beauties, we all know that Christmas is the best time for new launches when it comes to bath and body brands and one of my favours brands to shop during the festive period is The Body Shop. In today’s post I’m going to be talking about two of the new peppermint range that I picked up last weekend.

Disclaimer- This post contains affiliate links. As always opinions are honest and my own.

The whole collection in this scent consists of a shower gel, bath foam, soap, body lotion, body butter, body scrub, hand cream and shimmer mist. It also comes in some really fab gift sets that are great value for money if you’re looking for something for a loved one.

Packaging

How cute is the design of this years lid packaging, it literally screams Christmas and fits the scent of the product so well. It definitely makes me hungry!

Peppermint Candy Cane Body Scrub

The first item I picked up was this body scrub, I was in need of one after running out of my usual and fell in love with the scent of this one. It has the obvious smell of peppermint but mixed with a delicious hit of vanilla and it smells so sweet and food like. This has small bits in that are sizeable enough to buff away dry/dead skin without being too rough and leaves the skin feeling wonderfully smooth and like new. This costs £15 for 250ml but there is always offers on to save you some money!

Peppermint Candy Cane Body Butter

I always buy the matching body lotion if it’s available in the same scent as I feel it makes the smell linger longer. This has exactly the same formula as any other of the body butters from The Body Shop and I find them one of the best. They are fairly thick and make short work of any dry areas you may have. It does take awhile for this cream to set in and has a tingly effect to the skin thanks to the peppermint. The scent is exactly the same as the scrub. This costs £6 for 50ml or £15 for 200ml

Also don’t forget to check out the other Christmas scents that are also available, the Berry Bon Bon and the Vanilla Marshmallow and I’ll leave a link here if you want to shop the Peppermint Candy Cane collection.

Have you tried any of the other products from this years Christmas range? What’s your favourite body shop scent? Let me know in the comments below!

NYX Strictly Vinyl Reviews, Swatches and Look

Makeup Looks, Product Reviews, Uncategorized

Hello beauties, I’m a huge fan of a glossy finish, be that on the lips, eye lid or the skin, there’s something just so appealing about high shine looks. I recently come across NYX’s New Strictly Vinyl range and knew that I had to collect a few of the lip glosses and two of their liquid liners. I wanted to share my thoughts, some lip swatches and a basic editorial style look.

Disclaimer- This posts contains affiliate links but all opinions and reviews are as always, honest and my own.

Shamelessly shiny and super pigmented, Strictly Vinyl lip gloss from NYX Professional Makeup is music to your lips! This beyond glossy goodie is available in eight plush and pigment-packed shades that you’ll definitely want to add to your playlist. Hardcore colour and intense shine is always just a few swipes away.

3 KEY BENEFITS:

• Creamy metallic-matte

• Waterproof finish

• Smooth and precise applicati

Packaging

There’s not really much to be said about the packaging, if you’re already a NYX fan then you will notice that the packaging is the same as the Liquid Suede lipsticks. The gloss is housed in a sturdy cylinder and is larger than the average liquid lipstick. I really like the Doe foot applicator, it’s just the right size to cover my lips and makes it super easy to apply.

Formula & Wear

First thing I have to mention about this Gloss is that it’s sticky, so if you don’t enjoy that feeling then you will hate this. I don’t mind it however and love a glossy lip so this is perfect for me. Even though it’s a gloss it still has great colour payoff and doesn’t bleed out on the lips. I don’t ever expect a gloss to wear well, it’s just not the nature of it so wasn’t too surprised that this didn’t stay put when eating or drinking but was no problem as it’s super easy to reapply. I think the colours will be perfect for autumn for those who a glossy lip.

Price

There are 8 shades in the range, that are all aimed on the grungier side. These cost £7 and be found here

Shades ‘femme fatale, bombshell, baby doll and bad girl’

Ready to give the Strictly Vinyl™ Eyeliner from NYX Professional Makeup a spin? Take your pick from the five epic colors included in our vibrant catalogue. Featuring a flexible and slim brush, this high-shine liquid eyeliner glides on effortlessly and delivers an intensely lacquered look you’ll want to rock again… and again!

3 KEY BENEFITS:

*High shine liquid liner

*Flexible slim brush applicator

*Rich, fully pigmented color payoff

Packaging

When it comes to eye liner I prefer a thin applicator, which this product has. It’s small enough to be able to freehand a sharp wing. I wouldn’t recommend this if you are a beginner how ever as using any fluid eyeliner is tricky to get neat.

Formula

The texture of this is a thick fluid. It’s super smooth and doesn’t look dry on the lids when it dries down. I’m so pleased it’s a jet black, some liners dry down and don’t look that dark but this one definitely has intense pigment. Also loving the glossy finish, it’s something I’ve never seen for a liquid liner.

Price

There is 5 shades in the range which cost £6 each which I think it amazing, I will be picking up the rest of the range to spice up my usual winged liner. If you’re interested in buying you can find them here.

Using the ‘black’ liquid liner and ‘femme fatale’ lip gloss.

What do you think of the Vinyl collection? Are you a gloss fiend? Or do you prefer a matte finish? Let me know in the comments below!

Benefit Hoola Quickie Contour Stick

Product Reviews, Uncategorized

Hello beauties, before the start of this year I had never contoured my face as the fear of it making my face look dirty scared me. I then picked up this product and starting practising different ways to contour and it’s safe to say I’m hooked.

Today’s review is on the Benefit Quickie Contour Stick that I picked up when at the Airport in duty free when I went to Berlin.

Disclaimer- This posts contains affiliate links but all opinions and reviews are as always, honest and my own.

Chisel those cheekbones, slim that nose and get an overall sculpted look with this soft bronze, cream-to-powder contour stick. Hoola quickie contour stick’s dome shape tip ensures a smooth, targeted application every time!

You probably already know or have tried the Orginal Hoola bronzer which is one of The box ‘O powders from Benefit. I prefer working with a cream contour/bronzer so was excited to see that it comes in a cream formula.

Packaging

Benefit always get it right with packaging, they always have funky colourful boxes and eye catching containers and this is no exception. I love the tropical theme and the stick is housed in a gold bamboo shaped bullet. It has a twist up mechanism and a rounded top which makes for easy application directly onto the face. It’s super easy to draw lines ready for blending. There is also a bamboo shaped brush in this collection for blending if you wanted to be extra fancy!

Formula

The first thing I noticed about the formula and possibly the most important is how creamy it is, it has a super smooth texture. The creamier the product the more it will look like ‘skin’. This blends out really easily, I like to blend with a dense brush but a beauty sponge works just as well. I really like the colour of this for my pale skin, it warms up my makeup look without looking muddy or dirty and doesn’t cling to any dry patches. Perfect for those who like a subtle contour.

How to use

On the side of the box you can find a few handy ways on where to apply the product. I have a really round potato head so I like to contour my forehead, under the cheek bones and under my chin to create a slimming effect.

Price

This costs £24 for 8.5g which is a great price for how stunning this looks on the skin and how long it will last me. I will definitely be picking this up again! If you’re interested in buying this then you can find it here.

Illamasqua Beyond Powder Highlighter

Product Reviews, Uncategorized

Hello beauties, this is the first time reviewing a Illamasqua product, they have always been a luxury brand that i’d lust over but never have the budget to splurge. So when I found a discount code for Beauty Bay I jumped at the chance. There was no doubt in my mind that I wanted to get the Beyond Powder highlighter and I’ve fallen in love with it.

Part of Illamasqua’s May Queen range, Beyond Powder Deity is a lightweight highlighting powder. Leaving a subtle, warm and healthy glow, apply onto the high points of the face for an iridescent shine and seamless, silky finish.

Packaging

I have always found Illamasqua packing so beautiful, it has a ‘gothy’ aesthetic but with a sleek, luxurious edge to it. This highlighter is housed in a thick sturdy warped square box, inside you will find a good quality mirror.

The product looks so gorgeous in the pan, I picked up the shade ‘Deity’ which is a gorgeous gold with green dimensions in. There’s are four more shades to choose from ‘Daze, Dynasty, Epic and Omg’

Formula

The first thing that springs to mind when describing the texture is silky smooth, this is a very finely milled powder and so soft to the touch. It has tiny specks of glitter which are also finely milled and in no way look chunky. It’s super easy to apply with either a fan brush or a small highlighting brush and you simply have to dab the brush in the pan to get a intense shine. As you can see from the swatch below this gives off such a glow. You turn one way and it shows up gold and turn the other and you can see the hint of green. Don’t let the green part scare you however, it looks super pretty one the skin and goes so well with warmer makeup.

I’m so pleased it doesn’t accentuate any of my texture as that’s something I hate in a highlighter if it looks dry and shows up my pores.

Price

If you’re on a budget nows the time to click off this blog post. This highlighter is definitely pricey at a whopping £34 for 7g. This is more than I would usually spend on just one highlight, usually I’ll buy a palette with several shades. It was the shade that convinced me that it was a good buy, I have nothing like this in my collection so had to have it. If you want to get your hands on this then you can buy it here.

I’m so glad I took the plunge as it’s truly beautiful and as the pan is quite large I can see this lasting me a good while.
